The Emergency Broadband Benefit Program (EBBP) is an initiative of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) offering a provisional discount to eligible qualified people and low-income households on their monthly Internet bills for a temporary period. This service comes as an emergency support that we experience due to Corona Virus to support and allow everyone to stay connected during this period (This program may end when the fund is exhausted or six months following the end of Emergency COVID-19).
For this purpose, the Emergency Broadband Benefit will offer a discount of up to $50 per month for eligible households to use Internet service and the rental of equipment linked to this service (If you are located on eligible tribal lands you will receive a discount of up to $75 per month). There is also a one-time discount of up to $100 for the purchase of a laptop, desktop, or tablet computer from participating providers for eligible households with a co-payment less than $50. There is only one monthly service discount allowed per household plus one device discount permitted.
In accordance with this program rules, it is recognized that multiple eligible households living at the same address are allowed to apply.
What is a Household?
All households with a student in grades K-12 participating in a free or reduced lunch program or school breakfast program in school year 2019-2020 or 2020-2021 are eligible for this EBBP.
Households participating in the following programs: SNAP, Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income, Federal Public Housing Assistance, Veterans and Survivors Pension Benefit are eligible for EBBP.
If you are receiving the Lifeline benefit you are also eligible.
If you are a low-income household, you are eligible.
If you have or are going to receive COVID-19 relief program, you are eligible.
If you have been facing an income loss on or after February 29, 2020 as a result of losing your job or being laid off from your job with a total household income $99,000 or less for single individuals and $198,000 for couples you are eligible to receive this program as well.
So, if you are automatically eligible, you don’t have to apply, you just have to contact your broadband provider to verify if it takes part in the EBBP, otherwise you can look for another provider to enroll in this program.
Make your search at the bottom of this page of all companies that participate in EBBP.
You have three ways to apply to this program:
1-By contacting your company that will direct you to apply or not to apply (if you are automatically eligible) for eligibility through the National Verifier and then fill out their application form.
2-Online here.
3- By mail: Complete one of the two forms (in English or Spanish) and send it with your proof of your Government Assistance, proof of your Identity or proof of your Income to the following address:
Emergency Broadband Support Center

Actually, this program is a great support for everyone because it will help us to stay connected, work or look for a job, study and many other things.
